Hi
I am finding this thread very interesting. One of the main advantages people usually cite when asked about the plus side of NZ life (as compared to, say, UK or the USA) is that it is a great place for bringing up children. However, at least half of the respondents are either childless or couples whose children have already left home. It seems that NZ must hold some other attractions??? Incidentally, I am near 47 and Ben will celebrate 50 this year. No kids. Arrived in Wellington in May 08.

Thanks everyone for continuing to respond. All of the responses have been really interesting and obviously the draw of NZ is really broad, attracting/ed a variety of people.
I think it's really interesting to see what Benhila said about one of the main reasons of for people going to NZ are quaility of life bringing up children. From our perspective, we're taking a 3 month old baby out - so I was really curious to see who and what everyone else have been doing!

We are 33 and 35, with a 5 yr old daughter, from South Africa. When we were younger, we probably wouldn't have been able to afford the move, and if we left it too much later, it would have been difficult for our daughter. So now was the perfect time for us.
