This link from a Kiwi realtor's weekly e-newsletter.

Highlighting the best in real estate listing photos (I'm sorry to say most of these seem to be of homes in the US...but we REALLY do have lovely homes here with far more character than these shots!)

How about you? What have you come across in real estate photos?

I see alot of TVs on this blog's photos...and alot of beds highlighted in Kiwi real estate photos. For me, I'd rather know where I can find rest than how the TV will look against the wall!

Wow m'birds, that's an amazing page of wonders you have there!!
Maybe you will be slightly disappointed with what have to offer here... ;(

Personally I have more of an issue with the way in which things are advertised here.

For instance agents' advertising lines (you know, the ones they put above the house photo, in the window) - recently this one has stuck in my mind: "come fly a kite way up in the sky" - what the heck??? (Where exactly is the house? Up a string?)

And I see things like this:

and wonder. (I wonder "why? why? why?" mostly)
Although, maybe the "relax" sign is one of the chattels?... Is that the point of including it? Maybe I didn't know I could relax in my own home (fair enough).

To go with the theme of your page, you might like this day-glo shed:

though colours don't really bother me because you can paint over them (might take a few coats). But with this one, I think there's a shed-look factor as well... :/ You know, it just seems more sheddy than the average NZ home...??

I can't find any examples right now, but I particularly like (and by "like" I of course mean "abhor") the way that, for example, photos of flowers in the garden are included in the photo tour, I mean like an artistic close-up of a rose or something like that... :roll Because, I would obviously spend $500k+ for house with a fantastic rose bush.

(If I sound bitter it's because I've been searching for a good house for us since Feb. :laugh )

Oh Good Lord! That red and black room what were they thinking and what on earth is going on with the bathroom ceiling!? I know you can paint over things but with the cost of paint in NZ I think I'd be picking an easier challenge.

I agree with you. Also why can't estate agents (a) spell, (b) use good grammar (c) avoid cliches?? And if I see the words "indoor/outdoor flow" again on a house advert, I'm going to scream

The new house we are building will NOT have indoor/outdoor flow, or a family room, or an entertainer's kitchen - which always makes me think of Max Bygraves :laugh

What's with this indoor/outdoor flow anyway? Some kind of fengshui harmony gimmick. Although some Asians fall for it but could probably tell the agent off if they spot anything out of place. I am Asian, by the way, so I can testify to the tactic that many housing agents in my country use to sell 'fengshui-ready' houses.

Another pet hate of mine is....'A honey for the money' :roll
Why can't they just say 'in need of improvement/modernisation'
