Had a call on friday to say our eoi was declined, pretty heart breaking stuff but i think its saveable, apparently wifes job description does not tally with the ANZSCO version of a recruitment consultant, our version was a bit too salesy.
Its our fault as we just copy and pasted a genearl job spec from the employer that has offered my wife the job and sent it without really reading too much as we were rushing.
We have been assured that they will look at it again if we resend a more specific job description for my wife, hopefully they will look again monday or tuesday.:(
But, if worst case scenario, we have mucked up the pr route, what other options do we have, I hear of lots of people talking of just going out on work visa's, how do these work? They dont really mention them on the official website.

You may be able to go out on a work visa however unless it's an accredited employer there will need to be market testing etc. Also if you have this problem now you will when you want to go from a work visa to PR so you may as well get it sorted out now.

Whats market testing? seeing if they have already advertised the job without success?

I totally understand how you feel Walshy. My EOI was rejected a couple of weeks ago, but I already had Plan B underway and have my WTR visa.
My understanding of how the WTR visa goes is that after 2 years you can apply for residency. There seems to be a little bit of different requirements depending on if you applied under accredited employer, long term skill shortage list or talent route. You need to have worked in your field for 2 years, have a salary of $45k, under 55 (if LTSSL), have occupational registration if required. You must also meet normal residence requirements including health and character. So I am believing that after 2 years or working in NZ and being a productive member of society that I would not have any issues in being granted residency. If there is more to it than that could someone let us know.
I hope that new job description will clear everything up for you Walshy.

Yes market testing is seeing whether there are any suitable residents avaiavle to do this work and to ensure that the employer has taken all reasonable steps to check this.

Right, we have eventually sorted their concerns and they have now confirmed wifes job offer matches the requirememnts.
Now however they have discovered the company offering the job are relatively new so wont invite us to apply until the prospective employers have given them a 5 year plan, as they are only 2 years old!!!
This is just for the privelege to apply!! hate to think how much they will dissect our actual application if we ever get it.
