I haven't posted much here (been far too busy with the preparations!) but thought I'd mention that I'm off to NZ tomorrow, hopefully to stay for at least a year or two (have job and 12 month work visa).

This week has been insane with boxing up the whole house, the container drop off (story in and of itself as the truck slipped off our steep gravel driveway :( ), the container loading process, and all the various pieces that have to come together to make something like this possible. To the rest of you who have already done this move, my hat is off to you! But then nothing worth doing is ever easy, as they say...

I'll be put up at City Life hotel by my new employer, then I'll be looking for a 3 bedroom house somewhere on or near the Miramar peninsula. The OH and my daughter will be joining me mid-September, which is about the same time our container is due to arrive.

To say I'm excited is a huge understatement, but sheer exhaustion is tempering that a bit! In any case, look for more messages from me as I get settled and perhaps I can even meet a few of you here in person!

Woohooooooooooo! :raebanana

Have a super trip across the Pacific! Are you taking the train down from Auckland or getting on another plane? If you have the time (and the inclination) I recomment the Overlander train. :nice1

Have a great and safe trip! You will definitely like Wellington :cheers

And if you want to socialise a bit next week, you could visit the Welly Rocks meeting on Sunday. Always a good way to get to know a few other (new) Wellingtonians.

Cheers,
Anita

Thanks so much everyone! Bags are packed (well, mostly), send-off party was a success, and now it's time to dial down the excitement a bit to try to get some shut-eye :)

I'm not too worried about the weather. I've lived in some cold places (upstate New York) and will be bringing plenty of warm clothes. But we'll see won't we?

The Welly Rocks gathering sounds like a good idea. Hopefully I'll make it there.

Cheers everyone!
