Hi everyone , i have found this web site invaluable, thankyou to all the members who make posts, believe me these posts are studied and help make important decisions. My husband and 5 year old girl are moving over to Auckland initially for 6 months but this could be extended. We are looking at renting in the Maraetai or Howick area. Our big probelm is that we need to either get fully furnished or to buy second hand furniture as we are only going over for a short time..... cheers all Luanne

Hello and welcome! We struggled to find fully furnished places but I know other folks have had more joy. You may also strike lucky with a landlord who on hearing you don't have any furniture might 'lend' you stuff. Alternatively there is always good ole Trade Me or you can rent from DTR.

Good luck with your move.

New Farm has changed a lot in the last 5 years. I'm actually going there tomorrow, to the Powerhouse (next to New Farm Park) for a kids concert.

Hello,
Good luck :nice1
Just wonder: what is special in Auckland that you couldn't find in Brisbane?

If you want to hire furniture DTR have everything from larger white goods like ashing machines, tumbledryers, fridge/freezers, to beds, sofas, table chairs etc......not stylish stuff, but solid and practical. They are pretty cheap and will do discounts for longer term hire. But you will need to have some referees ready i.e. boss at work etc.

OMG you didn't muck around!!:exit

Although I have a qualification to finish, another visit over there, schools to organise, a house to sell, etc etc etc!!

If you don't mind Melly, could you please let me know what company you went through for the removals, pm me if you want, as we got two quotes, but I am not sure who my hubby went through, and have no one else to ask, as there are not many ozzies going across the Tasman!

Thanks heaps,

Mish :cheers
