I don't see why you couldn't take your dog to another vet. That's really messed up... I would be pissed too! I find it odd that she made the OZ, NZ same thing comment...Maybe your vet just doesn't want to do the paperwork?

Had same problems with my cats. Just go to another vet. Ive been toldmy cats dont even need to be vaccinated to go to NZ, they just need to worming and tests etc. (not sure about that though.).

Am Using airpets and they do most of the tests themselves i believe?

Just go to another vet - pref a large one.

I can imagine how frustrating it is for you. I am more worried about getting my dog to NZ safely than whether my furniture turns up! I digest the details of this website religiously: http://www.biosecurity.govt.nz/imports/animals/standards/domaniic.sin.htm so that I know what to prepare in case anyone scr*ws up.

They need to be chipped as well. We had our own vet do that. Everything else we left to Green Arrow, to whom we are paying a large amount of money in order to have our pets shipped without it being a source of stress.

When we shipped our dog over with Golden Arrow they said that the most annoying part of the whole process is dealing with external vets.

They find that so many vets don't know the correct procedure and even when they are provided the information as to exactly what they need to do, they often don't agree and think that they know better which causes so much unnecessary grief.

Might be worth talking to your pet shipper to get a recommendation to a better vet in your area.

That is BS. take your dog to another vet and don't look back. Make sure they meet the qualifications necessary because in the US at least not all vets are USDA certified which is necessary for the MAF.

Yes you can, and I can personally recommend our vet 'Donaldson and Partners' in Thongsbridge Holmfirth.
Rhona Wharnock is brilliant with dogs and also has done a lot of pet export stuff - she made it easy for us anyway - no stress. PS we can also recommend Golden Arrow for the flights .

Ours are booked in with Golden Arrow for a month before they leave ( they arrive a month after us) so GA are doing all the vet work for a total cost of £200 for 3 dogs. Much less tha quoted by our vet who was more than happy to do the tests and seemed to know what he was doing. By getting GA to do it all at least we know there will be no problems and it will be done to the required standard.

Glad to have helped. I know what you mean about it being a relief. We know that once the dogs are collected by GA they will be looked after and everything done to the required standard. All we have to do is pick them up the other end after we have got their new home sorted out. Good luck with it all.:)
