I posted a similar thread a while ago but I think in the wrong category - so no answers. So hoping this category - Working in New Zealand - might bring up an answer;
I live in South Africa and have been involved in the tourism industry for a long time - with the last few years as an online African safari travel agent. Anyone out there who is involved in tourism? Havent picked up on any such threads yet.

I don't know if this will help or not but I work for an airline, albeit working in the head office in Auckland so not directly "tourism" part of it :)

Hi all and thanks for your replies.
Just checking if what I am experienced in has any market in NZ: I have been in travel for about 10 years, initially as a tourist guide in Africa and then the last few years as a online travel consultant. Dealing with tourists wanting to visit Africa for Safaris etc. This is big business in the UK, US and USA (for African safaris) and I deal with 'inbound' foreign visitors wanting their holidays planned for them. I'm wondering if there are travel agencies that would be looking for specialised African consultants as I dont have worlwide booking experience (with all the airticket booking qualifications etc.) Otherwise we have some other avenues to pursue to get to NZ, if my tourism experience is not going to help!

I'm in the same industry and looking to move to NZ. Many job openings in the Travel Consultant and the Wholesale industry but so far no luck... looks like they want you to be there in person first.

I wish there was some kind of job placement agency that covered the Tourism jobs.. all the agencies I've found don't even touch this sector.
