after reading all transplantees postings we've been thinking through the vaguaries of our post-arrival life and decided its smart to rent a 3 bed apartment in auckland for the first 6 months or so.

does anyone know from experience if modern apt's are better standard than house rentals? are they warmer (or have they managed to subvert the natural communal-living warmth factor too)? is this option relatively hassle free? do apts tend to be furnished? can you find them in places like mt eden, ponsonby etc? do people let apts for less than 1 yr? how do apt rental costs stack against house rentals? is there a site that is particularly good for apt rentals???

we've been trying to find indicators for good house rentals, ie, warm, no damp, low maint and to date nothing is screaming pick me pick me. couple that with the forum postings...
