My OH is also from Glasgow I'm a kiwi and we are moving to New Zealand probably Nov/Dec this year, we are also heading to Taranaki.

Have you been to NZ before? On OH first trip there he felt it was the scenery/greenery was similar to Scotland and wanted to move there straight away!! He also nearly fell off his bar stool when I took him Peggy Gordons (Pub in NP) and they had Newcastle Brown Ale on tap (don't think I've seen it in UK on tap) plus many other beers that he liked!!!

Thanks. No we've not been over but just know it will be right for us.
Myself and OH are 100% up for it so thats really all that matters. Just a shame we will be so far away from family but its only 1 day away if they want to visit.
Fingers crossed everything falls into place for our move over.

We are heading over to New Plymouth as OH has a job offer and we have now been approved!!. We are going on Monday for originally a holiday but is now a reccie. Once OH meets new employer we will know when we will be going. We are going to have a look at the different areas to live and hopefully primary schools as well as relaxing!!

Hi, we were going to New Plymouth on our recce in October, but we've changed our itinery. I got alot of info from the Taranaki offical website. "Taranaki- Like No Other".

I can tell you that the Bella Vista New Plymouth motor lodge has a 3 bedroom house you can rent, it's just been refurbished, close to the CBD, garage, & bikes etc.

I can also recommend the Rough Guide to New Zealand, for touristy info.

Ah sunny hamilton spent many a slightly tipsy night on the tiles there :D We got married in Bothwell just up the road too :yes The megabar was after my time in Motherwell used to frequent the Electric Bar though - fine boozer although a bit dodgy now....
