Hello everyone.
We've been riding this rollercoaster now since May 06. It has taken over 2 years to get our Visas - and now as with most people the delay is selling our house!
Our oldest child has a chromosome disorder resulting in global learning difficulties. We asked 3 different INZ employees if it will affect our application, and they all said 'No, only if there are health issues' – which there aren’t. Obviously this didn't turn out to be the case, so we applied for a medical waiver. Our case officer raved about how strong our application was, and then ended by saying that we couldn't have one as we would need educational funding - which was why our application failed and why we were applying for a waiver!!!!!!
We then appealed, which was unsuccessful, but would have been successful if we’d managed to secure a job offer. We had tried really hard, but senior management jobs wanted people available to work to fill a specific vacancy.
Within a few days of getting our appeal results we had a company chasing us for a consultancy role. So now we tried a different approach, we had our family in Wellington approach their local MP to approach the Immigration Minister on our behalf. A few months later we had a YES. But we were bounced back to INZ UK for them to agree and finalise our application. Luckily all we needed to do was send in some paperwork and new police certificates. We were fully expecting the expense of 4 new medicals. Then the next issue, once UK had agreed our application, was them demanding a new application fee, luckily the Minister in NZ waivered it.
Our house has now been marketed for just over a month, with only 1 viewer to date. Seriously considering putting it to auction – just to have an end date to all this.
Really hope it’s all worth it – moving to be close to my sister and her new family, and so my husband doesn’t need to work away from home.
