Sorry - did a quick search that didnt give me any info.

What is the limit of cash that can be brought per person or per adult into NZ?

Thanks

Any cash over the equivalent of NZ$10,000 has to be declared at customs. It is possible to bring in more if it's declared - but they may question why you are carrying such a large sum, and you may be required to prove the source of the cash (to avoid risk of laundered money being bought into the country).

Would it be suitable to explain that we are about to embark on a work visa period?

NZ$10K is not much - is that per person / per adult or per family?

I'm curious, why not open a bank account? Why bring cash?

We can - depends on time. We might ony have a small bit of time once our visa is approved ....
