Hi, Just found this forum a week ago. we (me and my wife Kitty) are from Holland. Not the Holland of the windmills, tulips and wooden shoes, but the the narcotic number one state of Europe.
Because we don't understand the motives of our (left minded) government any more (neatly put), we have decided to emigrate to a more unpopulated country.
We lodged our EOI in December 2007, we lodged our ITA the 25th of July 2008. There were some problems with the recognition of my qualifications (I am an electrician) but after a lot of mails and letters writing to several organisations, we over won that problem fortunately.
Our house is sold 2 weeks ago. One concern less to think about :)
Because our native language is Dutch, we had to do an IELTS test. I got a 7.5 on a band of 1 to 9, but this was more luck than wisdom I guess....
Our plan is to settle near Napier, Eskdale or Bayview.
Well that's it for now.
thanks,
Peter

Hi and welcome to the forum Peter. I have lived in both Wieringerwerf and Wormerveer which are not too far from Andijk. I hasten to add I lived there as a child but still have fond memories of the area. :D

Hi Peter,
Welcome to this forum - it is a very valuable place for information in the emigration process. I originate from Holland and live here since nearly 3 years.
I do not call Holland the number one narcotic state though and I definitely do not think it is leftminded (on the contrary!). My biggest problem with The Netherlands is that it has become a bit of a police state lately (in comparison to the real free, liberal state it used the be).
But you will find a lot of what you are looking for here in NZ, because it is quite behind what we are used - so you might feel it more comfortable to your liking.
When are you guys planning to move?
Cheers
Anita

Well done. I know plenty who's native language actually is English that would struggle to register any form of score. You can see them daily on the Jeremy Kyle show :laugh
You clearly have no issues with written english.
Welcome and good luck with your plans
