This is a Weta. Quite menacing looking but actually quite cute at the same time.

They like to live in cool dark places.....or under Han's pillow as she gets into bed.

How charming!!!

Cute creatures ! I am in the habit of going to the loo in the night in the dark. One time I came back, put my hand on the bed, onto a Weta!! it bit me. It was about as long as the width of my hand, the scary part was that it had been in bed between us. It had come in the window over the bed.
You can put them in the freezer in a jar, they freeze solid then you can get them out and they come back to life. Thats what you do when the kids have to take one to school for a project.

If there was ever a reason to invest in screens.......THAT has to be No1 ! OMG......I would have a fit if that thing snuggled into bed with us ! They wouldn't bite through fly screens would they?
