Hello to all as title says i come from edinburgh and hoping to be i nz start of october.
i wonder if anybody can help me out with a couple questions.
i have got a job offer on a six mth contract to start off with ( see how me and company get on ) the problem is i am in bali now and going to stay with friends in perth oz for a few weeks before going over to nz, does anyone know if it will be ok to go to nzis in christchurch and apply there for work permit or whatever it is i need, i was told they can do it same day but would rather someone who knows the ropes better to advise me.
its just a work thing not work to residence or emigrating stuff.
hope i have explained this ok, as a bit rough after too many bintangs :cheers.

Hi

My hubby got his work visa done in a day via the Immigration Office in Christchurch. It requires some form filling, but as long as your boss is available to fill in some forms and provide a work contract then you should be fine to get it done in a day if all paperwork is in order. Just means a bit of legwork, that's all.

thanks for a quick reply, that seem good then as i have the written contract with me along with some another form the company has given me ( employer supplementary form/ work permit/visa application ) that they have already filled in, i think i have to fill in a application form i can d/load and fill in.
i hope thats them all as i hate filling forms in. :wah

Medical depends on your VISA/Permit type, if its for 12 months or less then you wont need a medical.

Cheers, and welcome!

cheers for help, so if i just ask for a 12 mth visa + work permit i dont need bother about medicals and xrays then that be great, also can i change my uk over to a nz driving licence without visas or permits say just on a tourist visa.
i am going over as a heavy truck driver but not sure if i will stay the 6 mth contract ive got as a bit concerned about the money ( less than half what i get in uk ) but i am single so shouldnt need that much, enough for a bed and of course the essentials :cheers lol.

For your personal driving licence then yes, you can get a NZ one by providing your British licence and taking the theory scratch-card test.

I doubt it's as simple for your heavy driving job though - although I assume they've already sorted your licencing requirements for this?

Good luck with the trip!
