Hello to all,

My husband has a job offer! :clap :clap :clap but oops there is a statement saying like this:

THIS POSITION MAY BECOME PERMANENT UPON COMPLETION OF A 3 MONTH TRIAL PERIOD.

Because of this, were thinking that the immigration will only allow a 3 months work visa for him. How about me? If this happen, I will not be allowed to apply for a work visa as his partner. I have read that a partner of a person holding a work visa allowing a stay in NZ of more than 6 months may apply for the same period as their partner. If this is the case I cannot apply and most probably the kids cannot apply a student visa until my husband become a permanent employee.

Are there anyone with the same 3 months trial period in the Letter of Offer?

Does the visa office grant a much longer work visa than the stated 3 months in the Letter of Offer?

Any comment/suggestion please!

Most jobs have a probation period of 3 months. Its quite normal. If you're going for PR then you'll have condition 18A slapped on your visa - that you have to complete 3 months work with the company that made you the job offer & send pay-slips & proof that you've passed your probation before they'll take the condition off your visa - that is what's happening with us & we're not worried about it at all.

If you're going for a work visa they'll probably give you a year or 2 visa & if it doesn't work out after the 3 months then you can work elsewhere until your visa runs out...

Good luck :hopeso
