Hi everyone,
Just got to tell all of you that I have just got an email to inform me that I have been approved to work as a midwife in NZ!!! Although the paperwork was very time consuming and took me 2 months to complete they have proved very efficient in the processing. It only took 10 days from when they received all the documentation and I am just so relieved.
Many thanks guys for all your support when the going got tough and if anyone needs a bit of help be sure to let me know.:nice1
One hurdle over with!
Recce planned Feb 09
Hoping to start work July 09:cheers

Hi
I am looking into moving to NZ as a midwife - haven't started the process yet - just doing some research. I've just been looking at the EXPO site and it says on there that you have to get your qualification assessed to ensure its up to NZ standards and this is done through NZQA (I think) but because I have to register with the NZ midwifery council & they will have to ensure my qualification is acceptable do I go straight to the NZ Midwifery council? I'm confused already!!! Where are you going to work in NZ?

When I was looking into becoming registered in NZ as a midwife, it was thru the Midwifery Council

Bilbo Baggins:
Congratulations on getting registered!! I´m also gathering all my documents and for me it´s triple work because everything has to be translated from Spanish!!
Can you help me with any questions that may come along the way??
By the way, I´m from Chile, South America...
There are things required in the Portfolio that I have questions about....

Sticking my neck out here but if anyone wants to know anything about midwife stuff here in NZ give andbarrel (my DD) a PM and she'll be happy to help. She's absolutely loving it. I was going to say warts and all but perhaps not.

Was it necessary to have your qualifications assed by NZQA? or was the registration from the Midwifery Council all that is needed for applyinf for PR??

This is fun for me, because we're moving to NZ so I can become a midwife. Then I'll be doing all this stuff in reverse, to get my qualifications recognized in Canada. Good luck to you all!
