I currently use cable and was wondering if it is mainly ADSL used in New Zealand as i need to get an ADSL router if it is. Thanks. :nice1

It is mostly ADSL but some areas also have cable or other technologies such as satellite so it depends on where you will end up.
I would suggest you check out the companies that you want to use as your ISP before buying anything to connect to them. It is common in NZ for the modems to be given 'free' with the connection and they also offer 'upgraded' boxes e.g. wireless etc for a subsidised amount so you may not saving any money if you buy before arriving.
If you get a modem etc supplied in NZ then you won't have to worry about the warranty issues and the ISP will be familiar with the model so will be able to help you easier than if you use an 'unknown' model.

yep it really depends where in NZ you are - outside the major cities (and for some reason us in Kapiti) it'll be ADSL - which if you go with the right ISP (i.e. not Telecom) is great
Telstra cable i've not had many problems with at all

Can recommend Orcon , great deal on package and good service . Broadband , unlimited local and national calls and 1 international destination of choice for $119 pm . Gets wireless hub for free , also NO CONTRACT !!!
