Hello all, just like them before me i have been looking at the posts for months.Lots of unanswered questions have been sorted thanks to your wealth of knowledge. My OH has secured a job in nz and we await our visa's.Thats for Shaun,Helen and children Abigail and Max. we started our jny in feb and were declined due to the dredded LFT tests. We withdrew our applications in July.We then got thinking and were misinformed on some issues, wrote a letter to big chief and are know back on track. Our application bought out archives and now back waiting for medical assesors report.I (helen) am fine now no LFT issues although Shaun's still a bit high so will wait and see.Shaun has secured a job with solid energy and will be based on west coast at greymouth or surrounds.so any info on that area would be great.Glad to finally be part of this.

Ah Greymouth - Spent the first 10 years of my life there - go back a few times a year as my parents are still there. (went to boarding school in Christchurch aged 10.5!)
Certainly not a happening place - the town shops close at lunchtime on saturday - no sunday trading(apart from THe Warehouse!!)
Hokitika has a bit more in the way of shops, but if its peace, quiet and lovely scenery you are after - then you will be fine. How old are the children?
If you have specific questions, let me know, I will try to help!!
We lived in East Bridgford, Nottinghamshire before moving here!!! Hows Mansfield? Bathing in sunshine???

I was chatting with Mum today and she said there is a migrant service recently set up in Greymouth for people moving into the area. Its a free service run by 2 Yorkshire women. It is funded by the Big companies, Solid Energy, Health Board, Council etc. They have all info about schools, housing etc and will help in any way they can. She happened to be talking to one of the ladys yesterday but doesnt have her contact details to hand. I will contact Mum again next week when she is back at work to get Kays email address/website if you would like to get in touch with them. They will be able to help you with any questions you have too!!

Thanks Tanya that would be great any extra info gladly excepted.I bet the Yorkshire women are partners to other miners that have emmigrated.I must say solid energy have been fabulas all the way. They offer a fantastic package for moving too.Just cant wait to get there.Just need them stickers and were on our way.We have done soe research but you cant get better than those who are there living it.Children are 11 and 7 and both up for a life change.

Greymouth doesnt have any traffic lights!!! Free parking in the town too. Just restrictions on how long you can park in places.
