In response to a number of people saying that they are having some difficulty with a lower disposable income in NZ, does anyone know if there are any forms of income support/govt assistance available to permanent residents?

The sort of means tested/family based assistance that is available in the UK?

Is it there at all or is it just for citizens?

Hi Paul,

Migrants only qualify for family support after 2 years in NZ. Meaning, for the first two years, you are on your own.
