Anyone know the answer to this please

if my wife has 5 years experience in her chosen field, but has taken statutory maternity leave during it ie: always been employed in that time in her field but with 2 x 6 months breaks for children, whether nz then only class that as 4 years experience instead of 5?

Thanks

no idea sorry, but logically I would have thought 4.

No personal experience as OH was the main applicant but given that your wife was still 'employed' I would say 5 years. You don't have to take annual leave, sick leave etc off your length of employment so don't see why you should have to with maternity... Mind you just my opinion and a simplistic one at that :)

I have never taken maternity leave out as experience, and as far as I am aware, you don't have to as you are remaining to be employed.

I never even mention it on my CV, and if your wife has been continually employed, I don't see why she should take this out.

Not sure about the legal side of immigration, but am pretty sure that it counts as continuous employment in the UK and it is not a 'gap' in your working life.

I'd leave it as 5 years, but of course you could always check and ask.

I was the main applicant and I included my time on maternity leave. You have to provide nzis a letter from your employer on headed paper signed by a manager (with their jobtitle) giving your job, hrs worked, your start and end dates month and yr only required and a few words about your job /job title if it is not clear from your title how it relates to your area of skill you are applying under. If you remain employed in the same post during your maternity leave that timje still counts. If you change jobs/ negotiate a drop in hrs then it changes.
Hope that makes sence.

No, they take it off, so only 3 and a half, our fault for being too honest!

Still qualify though, just!!
