First I want to say thanks to djchicane & Leccy-Lee for sending me the info about BUNAC (http://www.bunac.org/usa/worknewzealand/default.aspx)! :cheers

So we're working on Plan A-2.0 at the moment... We still have our original EOI open with OH as primary and we're going to see about getting his education assessed. If we don't get a level high enough (likely) no big deal because he could at least have it on his CV as assessed.

Then there is Plan B! Another EOI with me as primary. I've completed it (110 points) and submitted it but haven't paid for it yet... so it probably isn't in the pool yet.

Plan C = go visit and see about getting a job offer and get a work permit then starting the PR process (VERY risky!):exit

NOW with Plan D we might be able to skip Plan B & Plan C! Since OH used his WHV already he can use the EIP Visa through BUNAC and he can get in that way! Since I haven't used the WHV I can use that to get in(save a bit of $ this way)! Then once there and working we will go through the whole PR process

So! If we don't get the level we need from NZQA... It's straight to Plan D! Then the only problem we will have is picking a time to fly out! :raebanana Well... that and then the whole moving fiasco that will ensue!

YEAH! Hope has been restored!

Go Ponies! Sometimes when I read this forum I wish I had a magic wand I could wave and grant some good people their wishes. You have been so positive all this time and always a good word of encouragement for others. I really hope one of your plans work out for you.

We are still hanging on a thread with our EOI. It was a close call of it being rejected because NZQA did not give me the right level for my qualifications. But we decided to have another qualification of mine assessed as well and see what happens. Else we will also have to resort to what you called plan C. It is a risk we prefer to avoid if at all possible though.

But what is this plan D all about? You used some anagrams that I have not even heard about yet.

Ahh yes the dyslexic EIP visa, no wonder you haven't heard about it yet it's brand new :D

I'm sure that they mean the IEP visa which is the International Exchange Program visa. :exit

BUNAC is the organization... click the little linky above...

How the program works

Work New Zealand is authorized by the New Zealand Government to allow young Americans aged 18-35 to travel and work in New Zealand for up to 12 months. Your sponsor in New Zealand is BUNAC’s subsidary organization, International Exchange Programs (IEP). The program is administered in the USA by BUNAC on behalf of International Exchange of North America (IENA), which in turn sponsors New Zealand student exchanges to the USA.

On this Special Category Working Visa, you are permitted to take any job, anywhere in New Zealand in order to help support yourself financially.

This BUNAC/IEP program goes beyond the working holiday scheme by providing year-long on the spot support and advice for participants. IEP provides a job placement service for casual jobs and has a huge amount of information and help available on finding work and on life in general in New Zealand.

Choosing to go with BUNAC/IEP gives participants the security of knowing that they will not be on their own when arriving in a foreign country. IEP will be there to greet you and take care of you for as long as you need help. Meeting other participants from around the world is easy through the Auckland resource centre and the IEP social program.

Orientations are held on average three times a week and last about three hours. After your orientation, you can be as independent and free as you choose and still have the knowledge that IEP will be there to help you if needed.

Full gallop indeed!! We've been ready to get out of dodge for some time now!! We also have a wedding we're supposed to stay here for in Feb... SIL is due in April and our Kiwi friend in Welly is turning 50 in Feb...ugh! Some one will get hurt... doh!

We're heading to Wellington.

Great Stuff!!! :cheers go for it, you won't regret it, and the whole process from here is so much easier.

It was Lee that originally introduced me to the IEP, so cheers Lee! :clap

There are less restrictions on the IEP visa compared to the WHV, so if funds allow, I reccommed you both take the IEP.

Really pleased for you both.

Cheers, Dave :cheers

It's Elvish for 'maybe thou shalt find Valimar, maybe even thou shalt find (it)'. It's a geek thang. Or maybe everybody in NZ speaks Quenyan now *shrug.

Dear Ponies,

Congratulations on your determination to pursue your dream.:nice1

The roller coaster ride is not always smooth, we all know;). Like a few other forumites, our first EOI was refused but we kept trying and there we are: we will be heading to Christchurch shortly. I guess life is about sorting out obstacles. And that is what you seem to be doing nicely – keep on galloping and jumping fences and you will get there.

All the best,

Rosângela

AH! OH would probably have known...he's got some tattoos in Elvish...he's a closet geek! :)

Everything happens for a reason... and I think I got that link again for a reason...since I didn't look into it the first time!

Tempted to just go to Plan D right now! OH would leave this very second if we could! :exit

Just knowing that we can get there makes everything here a little bit better! I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!! :D

We would love to be there now but we plan on staying through the holidays and then taking off. My family is having a family reunion at the end of the year...100+ Puerto Rican's in one place for 4 days... my poor white boy of a husband! hehehe!

We would like to be there by March 2009 at the latest...keeping up with our trend of coming and going in March since 2006!

Humm.... maybe I should start planing a little yard sale! :clap

Sounds really good. I know the feeling. Sometimes I have a bad day here and feel like hopping on the plane. Still, I know I have lots to do to make the move a success and still keep a base here in the UK.

Will be a nice distraction to go to you reunion though?

Lots to look forwards to.

Yes, that's pretty much everyday! Just knowing that I'll be getting there (one way or another) makes it better... I'm very laid back and I normally don't let things bother me but now that I know we will be leaving I just brush it off even more...I don't have time for office politics or drama...might be why my boss hates me soo... bahwell!

haha... if we weren't married i think OH would have been there already! Now that it's not just him he's so adult in his thinking! I'm so proud! I think the only reason he came back to the US was for us to get hitched.

The reunion will probably drive me insane to be honest. My dad is white/German and I'm a lot more like him than my mom who's full Rican. The whole Puerto Rican time drives me crazy! But I'm sure I'll have a blast too! It will be emotional since it will be the last time I'll see most of them for a while :(

Maxx
