Where is the best place to reigister a Domain name?

Or are all companies pretty much the same?

There is a degree of variation in pricing, but not a lot if you want domain name reg and nothing else. If you want web hosting and additional services then deffo worth shopping around.

Yeah, other than minor variations of price, there's nothing in it. It all goes to ICANN for processing anyway - http://www.icann.org. The company you use is just an intermediary. Hosting is a different matter, of course.

Currently .co.nz domains usually range from $22-40 per year depending on which company you register through. US domains usually are cheaper at approx $16-20, though overseas based registrars can offer cheaper prices.

Registration is usually for a 2-year period, iirc (it's been a while)

I think it's 2 years for .com and 1 year for .co.nz by default, although you can opt to pay up front for longer if you like.

As per CJ, been a while, but I think that's right. Easy enough to find out from any of the domain rego sites.

I'm hosted and registered with http://kiwiwebhost.co.nz Ultimately I think they register the site with Domainz.

Frontpage - made by Microsoft, ergo kak, slow, expensive and unreliable. You should have known better. :)

I read somewhere that some unscrupulous sites register every name you type into their search engine. They still sell you the name but you can only buy it from them.
