Thanks everyone for an excellant forum. Tons of useful stuff and everyone seems to genuinely try and help one another, which is great. We've only just joined but already we've found answers to most of our questions, guess we all worry about the same stuff.

We like the look of the Hawkes Bay area so its full steam ahead finding work/selling house/etc etc etc etc

Thanks

The entire process can at times be a right pain in the neck - but very rewarding.

Good luck.

Hi, we're from Dorchester. Some friends of ours left here in June and lived in Rangiora for a while, they are now in Kaipoi. Do you like where you are? I've got the offer of work through and immigration consultant in who lives there. We like the idea of the better weather in North Island but we haven't decided yet.

Hi and welcome to the forum, it gets to be a major part of your day after a while!!

Be wary of the "better weather up North" assumption, the weather is different but not necessarily better (there are a few threads about the weather). It is warmer as you go north on the North island but also, from my understanding, wetter! :uhoh

Having said that if you have an offer of work already and it's a job you'd like I'd go for it, lot's of people on the forum would love that elusive job offer! :nice1 Where is the job offer?

Cheers,

Mark. :D

Thanks Mark

There's quite a few DOrset folk in here at the moment, and we're supposed to be in an envied location!

You are right about this forum, it grows on you. The job promise is in Rangiora but we're not sure yet if its the right move, we don't want to up root kids and everything twice if you see what i mean.

Whats your situation.

Hi MrandMrsLucky (real name?),

We have some friends who moved to Blenheim and loved it. After looking at house prices, quality of life etc. we decided that it might be for us so went to visit, in particular to look at Christchurch as we liked the south island but wanted a good chance of work. I had a job interview in May with a large networking company and thought I had it nailed when they did reference checks and told me they would be processing my application further after that. Recently they laid off 15% of the work force and all new projects, and therefore my job, were canned! :no

We have now had our EOI selected and can't wait to be invited to apply. We should, employment allowing, be able to buy a nice new (and big compared to UK) house and have a small mortgage with little financial pressure. We want to concentrate on the good things in life!! :nice1

Take care,

Mark. :D
