hi to all....
this is my 1st post, after 2 months of quietly watching others do theirs... :cool
my questions are:
* do we (wife and me) need additional authentication/certification (like malacanang, dfa, etc) for each of our documents, aside from the one issuing it? normally, ofws use these additional procedures... more info click on http://www.dfa.gov.ph/consular/authen.htm.
* does anyone experienced sending copies of passports, instead of the originals? i've called dfa regarding "certifying" true copies of passports and they said, they only issue "passport certificates." is this good enough for the nzis?
* when/where is the next philippine or manila meet?
thanks a lot in advance...

hi jes!
sorry for complicating things... i've already thought of sending the originals in the first place. :yes
but the problem is i need to use my passport (going abroad)... :no
how long do you think does NZIS "hold" the documents before returning them back?

actually i've already emailed the NZIS (Visa Officer-Beijing branch, as indicated in the ITA pack). the officer didn't quite understand my question and instead offered the same advice as sending either the originals or the certified copies.
btw, what's the difference between Visa and Case Officer? i've encountered no CO-name in my ITA pack....
thanks

hi aludg0
welcome to the forum! Gosh, you are lucky, you're new here but you already have your ITA pack. Me i'm a "thoroughly good egg" which means i've been here longer than you but my status hasnt changed... only selected!
anyway, can i ask you when did you submit your eoi, when were you selected, when did your ita come, what's your line of work (and mrs too), how many kids you have.. your age? Shucks, so many questions, no? Hope you don't mind. do i come out sounding like a visa officer? haha, as if!
i think the malacanang certification is not necessary on our part, that's what i know. (i don't even understand why it is required in the first place, for some ofw's! It's not as if they know very well the person who is applying in the first place to be able to certify that what those documents in his hand is nothing but the truth! Just another money-making scheme)
good luck, get your ita off already, asap! that way, you'll get to nz easier! (How many points do you have, and have you had NZQA? do you have a job offer already?
:cheers

hi annie! no problem with the questions...
my current status: completing my docs
EOI selected: dec 23, 2004
EOI points: 115 (reduced from 125 due to NZIS error, :no)
ITA informed(email): jan 25, 2005
job offer: none (yet) :uhoh
target lodging date: mar 30, 2005; +/- 2days
we're both into engineering (electronics), though specialisations' different. currently no kids (recently married). my age falls under the 30-point category (20-29) :laugh ... while my wife's a little older.
so that settles it... no more additional paperwork (imho). i've asked the medical clinic regarding the additional authentication and they gave me a very logical answer: no need, they issue certificates on the forms provided by the NZIS... :nice1 also, i've already made up my mind by sending the originals (minus the passport)...
my only remaining issue would be the passport, would nzis accept the passport certification...? :hopeso
my CO(VO) still haven't answered my email...
thanks!

hi aludg0!
that explains it... your field is very much in demand there in nz. hope everything will go smoothly for you both! and see you in nz! :nice1 :clap
The other people in the forum particularly the brits say that they send their original passports to nzis for stamping of the visa. of course with us, we can't quite commit ourselves to doing that (sending off our original passports into the unknown! omigosh!) so hopefully certificates will do. keep us posted on what your visa officer will say.
:cheers

Hi,
Welcome to this friendly and very informative forum :clap !
I don't think a certification from DFA or Malacanang is necessary (although this is required for nurses who seek registration from the Nursing Council).
For the passport, I plan to send the original to NZIS. I'm pretty confident with DHL/Fedex. Besides, you'll be sending the originals later on anyway.
