Does anyone have a link that states when the drivers licensing rules are changing so I can print it out and take it with me when I apply for a NZ license (with my old US one) so that I do not have to take the theory test?
Thanks

Without having checked now I think you'll find it on Land Transport NZ's site. Ruling should be effective Monday and the AA should obviously know the new ruling(?).

Make sure they are aware of the two year drop as well...I was asking someone in the AA about it and she was confused as on my Ohio license was just renewed this year and the issue date is January. I was having a difficult time getting her to understand that was the date I got it reissued and ours are only good for four years and the R stamped at the bottom stood for renewal, which meant I had a license for at least four years prior (and then some). She told me I probably would need to get a letter from the States stating that effect. I called NZ transport and the woman there told me that would not be the case that the two year rule only applied to the old system to determine if you had to take the practical test as well... Hopefully there will be not hiccups but be prepared just in case.

Does anybody know if you have to take both parts of your UK licence with to change it over (the paper and the plastic card)?
Andy, how did you get on this morning - any problems or did they know that the rules had changed?

Do they let you use print outs of bills etc? All of my bills come through electronically in order to save paper!

Hmmm, so our proof of address has to be an "original". I may just take the laptop with me so that they can see the original then!

Well, after 2 worrying days I have now got my NZ license, or the temporary cert anyway.
When I went yesterday I failed the eye test and was told to get a report from an optician as the eye test at the test centre is pretty standard.
My left eye has always been weaker than my right eye and although I can see normally, my right eye compensates for my left eye.
So I was now thinking they would not let me drive here and was a bit concerned but the opthalmologist was great and said that he would give me a pass cert which I took to the test centre and they accepted.
while I was in the queue a gent in front of me was not at all happy that he still had to take a theory test and was even more annoyed when he found out he would have to do a practical as well. He could not understand how most people in front of him did not have to take any test and they were having a difficult job explaining to him that his country was not on the list of exempt countries. he was still there when I left and he was not happy.
