Hi, I have had an abnormal smear result, had laser treatment, and another smear, which has come back as borderline/mild. Not the result I wanted.:( Has anyone had a similar experience? We are due for our medicals next week. Will this delay our application? I just couldn't bear that, I need to be in NZ with my gradchildren.... Thanks for any advice.

Hello :)

What a timely thread. I've just (literally days ago) had my final yearly smear after having had an abnormal smear and surgery (cone biopsy) to correct it in the UK just 1 year before starting the emigration process. How long since your op was the next abnormal smear?

The fact I'd had the problem and had it treated was all declared and wasn't questioned during the medical. I still had 4 yrs of smears to go until I was "cleared", too.

Can't help with the further abnormal smear result, I am sure it's a real worry for you, perhaps speak with your doctor before the medical and then you will, at least, have a clearer picture of any future treatment that may be needed before you see the panel doctor?

Hi, I had treatment in Jan, just before coming to NZ for 6 months. On return I had another smear, which I have just had the result for. They just want me to have another smear in 6 months, no treatment. Thanks

The Drs seem to like at least 2/3 lots of 6 month smears jsut to make sure that all is OK.
The wait seems endless...but if they have said no treatment but come back in 6 months it looks promising
Hope it all works out for you

I don't know the exact answer to your question but I would have thought that if no treatment was required it would not have been a big deal. I had to had treatment and just follow up 6 months later for 1 year. A lot of people have abnormal smears!
good luck,
hang in there.

Hi, Submitted application, to NZ house London yesterday. The girl was helpful and said the abnormal smear wouldn't be a problem, although any past surgery might need a doctors letter of explaination. So just a case of wait and see now.
