Hi Rammer,

have you considered using a backpackers? I hadn't until this trip but they are worth considering if your only over on a short trip looking for work. I'll pm you with my thoughts so as not to embarass any other members of the forum who may be reading this ;)

We just spent a week at the Hotel Wellington at $99/night. Someone recently posted a Web site that shows best hotel deals (maybe in the lounge?) This was on that list and the cheapest at the time.

It is pretty basic. I wouldn't stay there for a really long time but it works for a one-week trip. On the good side, it's cheap and close to everything. On the down side, the rooms are small, no Internet in the room (only in the lobby at $1/15 minute block), no room service, only double beds. Guess it depends on what you are used to and what you are willing to pay.

That's one of the best if you are 2 weeks out from staying. Has last minutes bargains for hotels to fill themselves up.

Most peeps in NZ use motels, unless you have lots of money to spend. My favourite site is www.jasons.co.nz (it is very similar to the AA one recommended by Beach Kiwi above).
