Is Cavens $55k going to be enough. Anyone able to set up an anon. poll asking people already in NZ to post joint family incomes.

Not looking too hopeful at the moment Caven. The poll is currently averaging at around $110k :(

Hi Thanks for doing that Richard, I may have started it but can't contribute cos haven't a clue what we will earn. :uhoh

Timbo, it should be for both incomes as it says on the poll 'family income'.

We're in the $100-$120 category, on a dual income. But to avoid scaring Caven too much, a lot of the blokes Terry works with are on $75-$80k single income with families and seem to be doing fine, I think it depends a lot on where you're living and how big your mortgage or rent payments are.

From what we're experienced so far we think we could cope with just one of our salaries... Not sure if it's a mistake on my tax bracket but I seem to be earning more than I expected due to lower tax payments and no national insurance, my salary is 2 times my UK £ salary in NZ dollars but I'm getting more than double per month. :nice1

I'm sure we'll get more of a feel for how the money is going once we've been here a few more months. One point to note is that mortgage interest rates are higher here in the UK (about 8.7% variable or 7.7% fixed for a year) so your monthly payout on the same loan amount will be higher. Not sure how that will change in the future, apparently mortgage rates here fluctuate quite a lot.
