hello!

I am planning a working holiday for Jan/May to be with my partner, an NZ resident. I was hoping to find work doing some lifeguarding at a gym or some belaying at a rock wall. Does anyone know how American Red Cross certifications Lifeguard and boating transfer? What about Wilderness First Responder? The NZQA website has proven unhelpful. Thanks!

Hi Annabelle, and welcome to the forum.
I do not know about US quals transfering, but if the St Johns ambulance service are anything to go by, I reckon you may have problems getting anything recognised here in NZ. A good friend of ours has worked as a first aid trainer with the Red cross in NZ, but is now working as a volunteer with St Johns. She is having to virtually re-train in all aspects as St Johns simply dont seem to recognise qualifications gained outside of its own organisation.
It may well be worth your while contacting someone in New Zealand that provides the kind of services you are hoping to offer.
