Hi

It is normal in the UK, well in my line of work, to follow up job applications with a phone call to show you are keen.

When Ian phoned an NZ company about a job he had applied for he was a bit put off by the HR woman who said he wasn't doing himself any favours by asking to speak to the manager whoc is recruiting.

Does anyone know what the protocol is in NZ.

Thanks from a confused Jo

Hi Jo,

Well you are up to full speed with my situ. I just kept on phoning and e-mailing the guy concerned, but my problem was he just didn't know how to deal with the immigration side of things. I would say just keep plugging away Jo, if this attitude wasn't liked by the said person maybe she had ulterior motives for giving Ian down the banks. The bottom line is, its their loss.

*See ya soon Jo and get Beth online the girls want to chat.*

some companies use hr dept to hire. if you want to speak with anyone else i suggest thinking up a couple decent questions and then when hr cannot answer casually suggesting you wouldn't mind speaking with the person directly - save hr the trouble, if ya know what i mean?
