HI anyone who is interested.

If you like my OH claim for 10 years work experience you need to have documentation with NO gaps to cover those periods, not easy to find. So only claim for the amount of years your are confident you have paperwork for, job offers, etc. If we did it gain I would just claim 6 years as it would have been easier.

I realized this too...luckily it was b4 I applied and was able to supply documentation. I guess tax papers are the easiest way to prove it.

we are worried about this - hubbie has 20yrs + experience in his trade but no qualifications so it's vital to be able to prove his experience, however, for most of it he was self-employed. Will tax records do? He could probably get something together from accountant etc. He wrote off to Nat Ins for proof of payments but has had nothing. We have a couple of references from major clients and then one from his employer since last June (when he sold his own business)
any advice?

Get everything you can! Tax records, stuff from accountant, bank statements, other bills, any references from clients or people who worked with him. The more info you supply, the better your chances!:nice1

I wish you guys the best!:yes

We used the (Newcastle) address and information in this link (http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/leaflets/data_prot_factsheet.pdf) to get hold of our tax records. We requested them right back to 1994 and got them a few weeks later. If you tell them you need the information urgently it might help. We weren't in a rush so I couldn't say for certain.
