Hi All, :)
My ITA letter says:
Based on the points you have claimed in your Expression of Interest we would like to invite you to apply for residence subject to you providing:
A New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) International Qualification Assessment Report (IQA) stating that your qualification is comparable to a level 7 qualification
I'm an applicant with IT qualifications (BSc in IT) and have 2 years and 9 months of work experience and I am claiming points for my recognised qualification. But I have two questions regarding the documents to submit to the NZQA.
Do I have to show 3 years of work experience to claim Level 7 qualification?
If I'm sending copies of the original documents, from whom should I get them certified? Reason is I have a degree from Australia, but live in Sri Lanka.
As you may already know IT professionals (applicants) have to show 3 years of work experience for the ITA. Do I have to show same amount of work experience for the NZQA application too?
Could you please help me to clarify these questions, so it would be a GREAT HELP.
Thanks a lot in advance.

You case similar as mine.
me: 2.5 years IT audit, 9 months DBA
I send ALL job related evident to NZQA.
They return result (and certified true copy)to me in 1 month. I get Level 9
I dont sent IT certification to them.
About your degree, i think you can send them transcript (my university is very helpful on this, because they charge on every request on transcript). So i send them the copies I get from university.
Yes, 3 years experience for getting point of absolute shortage or immediate shortage (they have alot of shortage name, but IT seems to be fall in to most of them). but NZQA only review on your undergraduate and postgraduate. 3 year + Level 7 is NZIS matter. So, when you file your ITA residency, you should provided evident that you have at least 3 years experience on IT.
Good luck for NZQA and iTA

I have not yet get positive feedback from NZIS so, what i provide NZIS cannot be considered as reference.
But I do provide my secondary school result and also, i request my university to provide a letter to provide my undergraduate and postgraduate are conduct in english (i did my degree in HK)
for ITA residency application, originally i plan to attach my IT certification (OCP, ITIL, Java, CISA and CISSP exam result ) into the application. Yet, I read from many people hear that they suffer long proceeding time, and I may need those certification original copy for looking for job (in nz, offshore application). So, i just put a set of photocopy document. I write to them that, original document can be provided upon their request.
This is all (extra things) i did. I hope they help.
Thank you very much for your reply sekilau.

to beetle &sekilau,
is that 3 years work experience should be got from 'comparable labour market' ? or just 3 years work experience from any labour market ?
mine also the same case as beetle, and waiting to submit another EOI..
thank you guys...

As I understand it, if your job in is in the shortage list, your experience does not have to be in a comparable labour market.

I read from other people's post and it seems that "absolute shortage" can replace "comparable labour market" requirement. It is just one of the members here saying so. It is always better to find an official answer. I will try to search immigration nz website later on.
Bonus points are awarded if the experience is gained in a comparable labour market OR in an area of absolute shortage, this is mentioned on the website and my EOI officer confirmed that.

I get it from web
http://glossary.immigration.govt.nz/Recognisedworkexperience.htm
Work experience points may also be awarded for work experience in an area of absolute skills shortage, gained in any labour market. Applicants who do not have skilled employment or an offer of skilled employment in New Zealand, but who do have work experience in an area of absolute skills shortage gained in a non-comparable labour market, can claim points for work experience on their Expression of Interest.
As far as IT is on the list, it should be ok.
I receive the populated ITA, It is written that I meet 100 pts requirement (otherwise they will not send me the form), even those the country which my working experience was gained is not on the list(i have written clearly the address of my previous and current company). In such case, I think they consider and count on my previous working experience.

Hi,
I am interested in submitting an EOI. I also have an BSC in IT with over 10 years of experience in the IT sector, including IT audit and quality audit. However, my concern is that qualifications and work experience are from Mauritius. And i was wondering if this will be sufficient to get 140 points to be selected.
I welcome your valuable comments

Mauritius should be a nice place, at least for holiday. I hope I can visit there once in my life.
I remember that there is a code for Technical advice and Consultancy staff
(313112)
http://www.immigration.govt.nz/nzis/operations_manual/8511.htm
I think IT audit is related to 313112, don't you?
But, be aware that, the latest list put 313112 under ICT customer support officer. Customer Support , Client support, it is quite confusing.

Hi Jean-Marc,
You said you have experience in the IT sector, including IT audit and quality audit. Do you have any development experience as well? To my knowledge I think your IT audit and quality audit experience will fall in to category 'Technical advice and Consultancy staff (313112)' in the LTSS List.
Though your qualifications are from Mauritius, it won't be a problem as long as NZQA assess them as a Level 7 qualification.
All the best! :nice1
