Ladies bits and bobs

Question for the ladies (although some men may have the need!)
Will I be able to readily buy:
Hair dye (shh, don't tell anyone I'm not a natural!) - I normally buy Loreal Blonde Extreme as it doesn't need a pre-lightener
Hair removal cream - eg. Veet 3 minute
Moisturiser (hand or face)
And is there a good range of sanitary products? Any brands to be avoided? Or recommended? (I'm not quite Mooncup ready yet before anybody suggests it :) Still need to get my head round that concept )

Sanitary products here are like the ones that were available when I was a teenager......15 years behind the UK, not much choice and not very cheap either :(
Plenty of choice for moisturiser.....I can't live without the stuff as my skin is c**p.

I agree
Pack them into every available nook and cranny in your container....

If you like Lil-lets or Boots own-brand of tampons, then I have found the Carefree brand to be just as good.

Yeah, I have to agree with that, no idea why?! Its like going back to using that shiny toilet paper you had at school, when you've been use to using double quilted.

When we lived in Malawi quickly learned to mark all parcels "womens sanitary products" cos it was all blokes that worked at post office so wouldn't touch them or worse still nick stuff :) This was after Mum sent chocolates out to me and the empty box was delivered to my office :(

Hair dye you should be fine although there is slightly less choice.
I'm struggling with moisturisers here, being allergy girl. It is not a legal requirement for the manufacturer to list all ingredients and I have one thing that I know I’m allergic to. Body Shop and Lush list but I haven’t found one that suits me. And prices are higher at about £10 a pot so each trial is a bit expensive. I’m waiting for my mum to get back from holiday so she can post me some Boots extra sensitive stuff. Even with postage it should work out cheaper.

Sanitary products for ladies are a bit behind the times here, and costly too - I miss 'Always'.

It's comparable to nappies IMHO.....you can get other brands here that do the job just fine, but they don't match up to pampers.

The emigration lark is what got me to change to a mooncup - was talking to a lady at my sons karate class about having to stock up on 'ladies products' as they were expensive in NZ and she told me about them - so i decided rather than take up valuable space in the container I'd give it a go - no going back for me now!!
And its kinder on the environment too!! :clap

If you're feeling brave, you can have a look through this thread:

for some rather 'frank' discussion on Monncups.
Actually, best have a couple of glasses of vino before you read that thread :D

Me too - I've been a bit of a hippy and using my Mooncup since Uni days. I bought my first one at Glastonbury festival. (I'm on my second now, as I managed to boil the pan dry one day and the first one melted! Oops!)
Hair Dye is available in most supermarkets, KMart, Farmers, the Warehouse etc - loads of different brands, and it's worth buying several if you have a particular favourite when they're on offer.
Loads of different hair removal creams too - Veet is sold here, but I don't use any of these, so no idea if they have the 3 minute one. They also sell Nair and the amusingly named Nads.
Loads of Moisturisers - is there a particular one you're after? I like UltraCeuticals and SkinCeuticals, which both have a high SPF and are very moisturising. I found my skin became really dry after moving here, possibly due to the excessive UV light levels, and the wind and rain exposure from walking everywhere at first. I use a barrier under my moisturiser in winter now, but still suffer from red cheeks all the time.

Got a Diva cup in the US.. Couldn't get it to fit nicely. :( Very uncomfortable. Really wanted to use one, too, for the environmental reasons.
Will never use tampons again (sorry men on the forum! :D ) - my aunt (non-relation) had to have everything that made her female below the ribs removed after suffering extended cancer through Toxic Shock Syndrome and using tampons all her life.
However, as regards sanitary products available here, I've not had a problem finding them. And Neutrogena products are all available here which are good on my skin.
OK male-folk, you can read again now. :D :exit

i'm getting a mooncup, i was bowled over by the price of sanitary products and nappies.
And if i don't get on with that then i'll be getting somebody to post them out to me, reacon it still works out cheaper than buying them there!

Hey ladies,
I know y'all have been posting about sanitary napkins. What about tampons? I use those only. Expect on very light days, I will use pantie liners. I was wondering about the selection and brands that are offered. Or do I have to stuff a plethora of Tampons in my luggage. :laugh No container for us. Just curious.

Bring as many as you can fit in your luggage, and the same goes for moisturiser too. The selection is nowhere near as good here and what you can get is very expensive. I've have a good moan at my husband every week in Pak'n'Save at the outrageous price of 'lady products'.
PS stuff your cases full of Burt's Bees stuff and put it on Trade Me, you'll make a fortune :clap

I use(d- preggo now) the DivaCup and loved it. I found other folding techniques that worked better than the c-fold they show you in the instructions. Plus I trimmed the stem- that thing was always poking me in the (fill in the blank) :wah Huge difference! But also, the mooncup and other versions are a bit shorter than the diva so may be more comfortable if you want to try another brand.
here's an excellent forum for everything you ever wanted to know (and quite a few things you didn't) about menstrual cups:
