We've finally begun filling in our EOI form and have a few questions...
1. Calculating Qualifications: For the principal applicant, we listed 4 qualifications - bachelors degree, honours degree, masters degree and post-graduate diploma in education certifications. It came up to a whopping 65 points! Surely that can't be the case - must we remove something?
2. Calculating Work Experince: One section asks the principal applicant to list all the previous jobs he's done. When we do actually total up the number of years of relevant work experience, I am assuming we also count the current job he is in, as previous jobs alone don't amount to more than 10 years (which is what we are claiming). Is this right?
3. Calculating Relevant Quali and Work Experience: Principal applicant is a trained counsellor (6 years, with a relevant recognised Masters) and a certified teacher (10 years, with a relevant recognised degree and post-graduate diploma that will require NZQA assessment). We are claiming bonus points for skills shortage (teaching). Does this mean we cannot claim qualification points for his Masters (counselling) as it is not in the area of skills shortage (teaching) we are claiming for? He did both counselling and teaching at the same school though!
After computing everything we have 155 points but I am pretty sure it should be 140 - we must have double-counted something! Appreciate any help.
