I have been following the EOI selections for the past few months and it is possible to get picked with less than 140 points and without a job offer or boinus points.
Below is the minimum points level to get selected over the last few EOI selections and the number of EOIs selected at this level:
07/05/2008 135 7
21/05/2008 135 3
05/06/2008 120 125
19/06/2008 120 46
02/07/2008 115 178
16/07/2008 120 55
30/07/2008 115 71
13/08/2008 115 55
27/08/2008 115 52
I originally applied a year ago and got points removed for not having an IT degree despite being an experienced IT project manager. My plan was then to hed to NZ where I was confident in finding work.
However, I recently re-assessed my points and found that I can claim 120 points with no bonuses. I applied last Friday and was selected today. :raebanana
It seems the pool is quite shallow at the moment so now is the time to apply if you're a little low on points. Maybe it's the time of year or it's the credit crunch but this is probably your best chance (just hope not too many people have read this post :))
