NZIS says that they are doing a preliminary check of the EOI after it is selected.
Does anyone know what the heck this means?
Are they making sure that I filled in all the blanks correctly? Checking my math on bonus points, etc?
Or are they checking content?
I can't imagine they are checking content because that is what the documentation with the ITA is for, right?
I am confused. And I know this part takes a month(??) before I get an ITA so I hate to sit here and guess for 30 days.

Not sure exactly what they check. It said that on ours as well (probably a standard thing). OH did get a phone call from them with a query but they were happy with the answer they got. We are now at 'decision successful'

They check to make you claimed your points accurately. They make sure your work experience, recognized qualifications are par with NZ standards. I see a lot folks run into trouble with the bonus points. For example, a person claims to have 10 years work experience in IT but got a degree in something else, or no degree at all, they lose all those points. From what I understand, the degree in which you claimed bonus has to coincide with your work experience you are claiming. Sometimes too, the recognized qualification because a gray area as well and at times, the applicant will need to get his/her qualifications assessed by the NZQA to find out which level it is. I am sure if I am mistaken, someone will correct me. ;)
I am not trying to make you all confused. Honest. :) But I have seen a few folks on here get selected, the checks are make, stuff is not what NZIS thinks it should be and points get deducted. Sometimes, after the deduction there is still enough points to stay in the pool, in most cases, it is not enough.
Although this an old thread, here is an example of a person getting "de-selected."

Without a job offer, it is typical to wait 2 months for any news about an ITA.
Hope this helps and good luck!:nice1

Hello & congrats on getting selected!!!! :raebanana It's been a long time since I heard from you folks. Don't worry about NZQA as in your case it will be the dreaded (hiss hiss )PGDB assessment that will be considered.I'm assuming you're still going down the plumbing route that is.Yes it is correct that they will recheck on the points you are claiming. So i'm afraid it is a case of sit tight & wait for that wonderful decision successful. All the very best to you & yours & keep us posted on developments.
