We'll shortly be sending in forms for PR for OH and the kids, and because we're in Canada, they need to go to Washington. I'm told that the turnaround time there is quite long....does anyone have any insight into this?

We were really hoping to be in NZ by the end of January, so I'm hoping this wont delay us too much.

If you mean Washington DC than they are super fast (my temp work visa was granted on the day that they received my application-total 5 days with shipping and during the weekend). Didn't know that there was an embassy in Washington.

Wow, wish I could have sent my ITA to the Washington Office. I am typing this from work about 2 blocks from the White House. Had to send mine to London. Like TIMEANZBOUND said, I hear they process quickly.

Well that sounds promising. I wonder if there is a difference in processing time if you're apply for a Work Visa instead of PR.

I hope they can do it quickly. With my mother's help, I'll have everything sorted when I mail it all in. Copies, more copies and more copies. I's dotted and T's crossed. So with that all in order maybe it'll be easy for them.

I thought Canadians and Americans had to send PR applications to London...where did you see that it was Washington?

If you go here......and enter Canada as country of citizenship and then Canada as country where currently living.....then choose what you're applying for, it'll give you the result.

I chose Family Category Visa (as he'll be applying as the spouse of a resident) and it gave me this answer...

The branch identified below process Family Category visa applications for citizens of Canada currently residing in Canada.

There are some categories that you can send it to Ottawa even! eg. Work Visa - Partnership (partner of NZ resident)

If he was applying as a Skilled Migrant, it would have to go to London by the look of it.

So it appears that it depends on what you're applying for.

That's what I thought for me, work visa Ottawa, Skilled migrant London, but I didn't expect the Family category to be different, good to know.

Although I'd really prefer sending my application to Murray at the NZ consulate in NYC :)
