Hi all!

I have just finished my ACCA :clap and can't understand why ACCA is not fully recognised in NZ (at least for NZICA)

I would like to know what to expect regarding employment opportunities. Are there many ACCA students in New Zealand? What is the general attitude of employers and Accountants towards ACCA members? Are they paid differently? What about any study leave or other allowances?

These are just some of the questions I have!! :D

Unfortunately until recently only CA designated accountants were recognised in NZ, so many job ads do specifically ask for CA qualified accountants.

During the past few years other professional bodies like CPA & CIMA have established a higher profile. This has lead to many recruitment agencies now adding 'CA or equivalent' to job advertisements. Jobs that have a strong technical focus may still only seek CA qualified accountants.

By demonstrating that you have equivalent skills and experience you should find a number of opportunities available to you and in most cases you should not suffer a material salary drop.

Hi SteVan
I am CIMA qualified and had to have my qualification assessed even though it is taught in NZ and has an active membership. I have had no problem with employers or agencies recognising my quals good luck

Jane
