Its not that bad, at least there is something to look at and your not looking a blank grass

verges on the M62.
And the saving grace in when you reach traffic lights and look to one side or the other

you'll probably get a wry smile from the other folks in the same predicament as you.

Well here goes, My journey starts after the first roundabout on Bucklands Beach Road I head

to Highland Park and turn right, along Pakauranga Road to the lights at Ti Rakau Drive where

I go straight on.

Over the bridge on Lagoon Drive

(found a rat race here could go up Church Crescent through Panmure)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/AliJax/Picture055.jpg

to the roundabout, and straight on along Ellerslie Panmure Highway

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/AliJax/Picture057.jpg

At the lights at Lunn Ave, I could go Right but found another rat race through Ellerslie (I

go this way when the lights are red (I HATE RED LIGHTS).

This image is of the houses on Ellerslie Panmure Highway

Before the Motorway junction a left into Ellerslie Main Highway

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/AliJax/Picture062.jpg

I turn left up Ladies Mile (love the name) heading for Remuera (not a big user of rat races

in the UK but have definatley found a use for them here).

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/AliJax/Picture063.jpg

This takes me left onto Remuera Road - and onto Remuera (this is the slowest part of my

journey).

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/AliJax/Picture067.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/AliJax/Picture068.jpg

The next pic takes me around Mt Hobson Domain (very noisy cricket creatures living on the

mount for those of you looking to live here !)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/AliJax/Picture069.jpg

The End is in sight as I can see Sky Tower from here.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/AliJax/Picture074.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/AliJax/Picture076.jpg

Turning Right onto Broadway takes me past Kyber Pass Road.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/AliJax/Picture077.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/AliJax/Picture079.jpg

Instead of heading into Parnell (full of Cafes) I take a U-turn and onto Carlton Gore Road.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/AliJax/Picture080.jpg

And our office has Urban Cafe Shop on the ground floor.

TaDaa. We're there - dont treat this as a slide show from one of your holiday neighbours from

hell.

Try and look at it as if there is someone who may not be as sad as me and feel this to be

Useful - which I hope is. The journey takes me 55 mins for about 19kms.

Personnally Ali,
I think that is a great thread :nice1
Did you get the idea from Andy sending me a picture of Wigan lane in the snow on Monday?

I saw a fight on the 1 the other day. these two maniacs were smacking hell out of each other. They were both lunatics that desereved whatever they got. I felt sorry for the lady passenger that had to witness her boyfriends and his foe's behavoir though. :(

John.

Looks very like the US from a quick glance, do you turn left on red over there  Not got our NZ highway code yet!

Not sure traffic jams are good wherever you are, and you must be stuck tp have time to take pics! I have a cousin over there and she warned us to live as short a distance from work in Auckland as poss.

Hi Alijax,
Nice pics, have you ever tried turning off Remuera Rd right into Orakei road, down to Shore Road, straight on and up Ayr St? that gets you to Parnell Road without going to Newmarket

now i really feel strange - you've thrown me back 12 years. everyone keeps telling me how different it is since i left but truthfully, the essence is the same.

I was a bit unsure to posting this thread. But I think its an important time of the day.

If you approach traffic lights they are Green - then yellow and then Red.
The filter lane for left turning traffic it seems is identified by a solid white line, but if your in the lane going straight on there doesnt seem to be too much of a problem.

Might try the Orakei route Gran on one of my rat runs :nice1

The hour into work is not stressful as in the UK - but if you know me, I'm So Chilled and patient - its only traffic lights that I dont like.

Just out of interest - what time was it you go into work?

Also, a general question - do many people go in earlier to avoid the traffic? I used to do that all the time at my last job - sure, you end up working longer as you never get away early, but I enjoyed the work, so was no real issue for me :P

Those pictures look like they were taken around 7-30am on a Saturday morning, judging by the rather light traffic. ;)

Is that when they were taken?

Still, I like what I see there, red lights or traffic, nice wide views, even tho there's lots of cars, should see the way the road into our town looks in the am's and pm's. And we live in a small town in the east of Holland!
