Going Back

BOMBSHELL.....Yes you heard it here first folks, after 2 years back in the Uk we realise that we miss NZ that much we are going to try it again.
THe reasons we left in the first place are many and varied but mainly a daughter that dug in her heels and would not make the move with us and we experienced some financial difficulties, however, my daughter is now engaged to an Aussie!!! and is most likely going to make the move to OZ in the next couple of years meaning we will almost be neighbours, we will ensure this time that beside myself and my wife working that my son will also be able to get work (he was not allowed to work during our last stay).
I expect some may want to know the reason for the turn around, well whilst I appreciate that there are money problems all over the world but since being back here we have seen petrol go up from 80p/litre to 124/litre, the house we currently have is heated by oil so mega bucks to fill the tank, we are still renting and see no hope of getting back on the property ladder, when we are skint here we do nothing, if we were skint in NZ we could still go for a walk along the beach, we would encounter penguins, seals etc. I could drive into work in the centre of Dunedin from the peninsular within 20 minutes and never get held up. OK so I live a lttle further from my work place but it take me around 20 mins to get to the edge of High Wycombe it then takes me a further 25 minutes to get to the office.
So as soon as I can get a job we will start the immigration process all over again, will be going up to the Expo in London next month, would like to hear if any other members are planning to attend...

Look forward to hearing from you. :bluebanana

Will you need to reapply? Or had you become citizens while there? Or will you be getting back on your RV/IRRV?

Nice to hear from someone who's BTDT...and is going back!

Thanks for all of your good wishes. Migratory, I was on a WTR visa which I am advised by NZIS we can apply for again. I prefer to do that so we can get out there and earning and then stick in our residency application immediately.

Glad to hear you've come to a decision- I remember you saying last year that you were considering a move back. Our move back home has been the complete opposite of yours which just goes to show how all our experiences are different whether it be in NZ or the UK. At least you know what you're heading back to in NZ and can be prepared for the tough bits! Are you moving back to Dunedin or trying somewhere else?

All the best with the move - I'll look forward to hearing how you get on.

Louise :)

Congrats on your decision :) Making it is half the battle.

We're flying back to the UK on Sunday, but having ruled out making a NZ return at some point in the future - it's just that now isn't the right time for us. But I hope it's the right time for you and your family

Hey Colin

Great to hear you're giving it another go. There are up and down sides to both places. I hope things work out well for you this time around. Hopefully you will have the benefit of hindsight to help with the move this time round. Best of luck!! :clap

Good luck second time around. I hope it all works out for you this time. Do you mind if I ask why your son wasn't allowed to work - was it becuase of the WTR?

Icemaiden,
Yes it was the WTR plus when I applied I had included him as a dependant, that meant he only qualified for a visitor visa, although he was allowed to remain in NZ as long as we stayed he could not work

HI again - so when you get your PR, as a dependant he will be allowed to work then?

Not sure, I think he will have to submit his own application, this one of the reasons that we are going to the expo in London to get some advice. But basicaly I think you are right, just need to confirm.

If your son is on your PR application then he will have PR when you do, I think LOL.

No yet made a PR application, on our first time in NZ he was included on our WTR application and granted Visitor visa only, this time around I still expect to go WTR route as I anticipate making the move as soon as suitable employment is obtained will apply for PR when in NZ.....At least that is the way I thought to do it!!!
