I just got an email saying that our application for a medical waiver for our son has been declined (he has global developmental delay and would qualify for ORRS funding)
There was no indication as to why we have been refused, apparently we'll get a letter in a few days. We can appeal, but I was wondering if it is worth it... what are the chances of the decision being overturned and the waiver being granted?
Feeling totally sorry for myself at the moment :wah:wah:wah

i have no idea what your chances are, but it would seem silly to me to not bother with an appeal if there is even a slim chance. I guess it depends how much you want it!

I agree with Flutters you have put yourself through the mill to get this far its worth an appeal on the waiver.........it would be awful to think back in a few years time with regrets. :nice1

As above. Don't know what else to say, as I'm sure nothing I can think of will help.

There are lots of things that can be done to help your case and if you are prepared to see it through with lots of hard work and determination I feel that you could have a reasonable chance of getting through.Your case is complex and the cost of ORRS funding against what you will put into the country needs to be weighed up.Each case is taken on its own merit and can't be compared.Only you can decide how far you want to go and to what cost you are prepared to pay.;)

Thanks folks :)
I'm over the feeling sorry for myself bit now and am gearing myself up for a potential fight  DH is picking up what we assume are our documents and hopefully the explanation letter from the PO today, then we'll have a look at the reasons they've given for refusal and take it from there. Unfortunately funds are very limited, so if it will cost us lots to appeal it may be a case of not being able to, but hopefully we can work something out.
I gather the appeals process can take quite some time, which is why I was considering not doing it - I hate the uncertainty and not being able to plan too far ahead, but as everyone has quite rightly pointed out, we've come this far so it would be silly not to fight to the bitter end!
Thanks for your support :nice1 Wish us luck!

Not sure if you seen this site but its very handy for seeing what reasons and angles appeals and reviews can come from, lots of previous cases as examples.

Good luck. I really hope it all works out for you. Britzy and I are in the same boat as you are. Go for it!!!! At least you will know that you gave it your best shot or you will always wonder it you could have got in. I know what you mean about the uncertainty. It is sooo stressful. i have resorted to a little medical help in this regard!! I'm not even ashamed to admit it!
As if having a child like ours isn't stressful enough!!!
You are in my thoughts and I really hope it all turns out well for you.
