Greetings all,

Keeping in mind that most jobs are in Auckland - what is the scope for IT and Telecoms work in South Island -particularly around Chch, Nelson and QueensTown? I dont mind communing 40 minutes to 1 hour outside a major city as long as there is a good local community around. I AM looking for a comfortable/well paying telecoms job. I havent contracted before - though I may give it a try.

So - what is the scope? What kinds of companies function there and how is the job market? (Or do i have it all wrong?) And - depending on that - which city would be best to start looking at?

I'd start by searching www.seek.co.nz. I've seen lots of Telecoms jobs all over.

From recent experience agencies and employers in Christchurch were reaaallly excited about my husbands telecom experience. We had to steer them away from that and onto his desire for software engineering work. If you have an arrival date in mind I can recommend Farrow Jamieson as a recruitment agency. We had a very helpful agent there.
