Looking to Rent a Place in Christchurch

Hi,

Me and the family are arriving in Christchurch in Dec, and will be looking to rent a place asap. If anyone has any suggestions as to areas that are worth looking at, what the rental market is like at the moment, or any other advice I'd be really grateful.

:cheers

Suggest you set up a search on http://www.realestate.co.nz/ and get a weekly email of rentals in the area.
By the time you get here you will then have a good idea of what to expect and what to pay.
We had to move in early Jan this year (and again in '09) and the middle of summer holidays was not a good time.

You could try dropping forum member Joanne100 a private message - she has a property that she lets out in Chch :nice1

I've subscribed to these guys and they keep sending stuff through weekly as you say, only problem seems to be that all the properties are for rent immediately or at most in a couple of weeks time.:(
But as you said it is giving us a good idea of what to expect and what sort of price we are looking at.:cheers

Can check in at Harcourts or Professionals (agencies) to see if they have anything that suits you. Harcourts was pretty helpful even though we didn't end up using them.
Can also check out Braziers or HomeAds for more private landlords. Should be pretty easy to find something not too expensive if you don't have pets. Or at least not dogs. :p
Most suburbs are nice and ChCh is really easy to navigate. I'm over in Linwood/Woolston and so far it is the oldest and most run down area I've seen and isn't *that* bad.
