Hi

Has anyone found it easy or difficult to get gluten free products in NZ. My fiance says there's a Pizza company that does gluten free pizzas, but when he contacted his local supermarket there didn't seem to be any 'free from range' that they could point out, sounds like it's a case of reading the product labels.

Over here there seems to be a specific section that has 'free from products'.

Any one got any experience on this? :D

Yes, most supermarkets have a gluten free section. It is quite small here but definitely getting better. I've also found that the small town that I live in, a lot of the coffee shops provide GF products too. Pizza, I bought GF bases and put my own topping on.

Yes, you can find them in the supermarkets without too much trouble, or as per another thread there are some good selections at the Bin Inn too.

Lately I've had to seek out lactose free products too which wasn't too difficult.

You should be OK, there are things in the supermarkets usually in its own little section, as well as health stores that stock a reasonable range.

It took me a while to find a good supply over here & I was worried that I would struggle to find things again.

I was hoping NZ would be ok for gluten free products, because I'd looked on some coelica websites & it looked like NZ had a good reputation for gluten free standards.

I just hope that it's not going to cost an arm & a leg like it does over here :wah

It seems that anything that is not standard (gluten,egg,dairy free etc) you pay a premium for. Even with the organic food, although that is getting a bit better.

Oooh pizza, makes my mouth water just thinking about it :laugh

I bought bases here & my daughter & I have had fun adding toppings. But it would be so good just to order out a pizza, yummy :D
