OK, we got our case officer last week. yay.. but we just got one bad news after another.. (I am being a bit over dramatic).

He just informed me that they send my file to the medical assessor people, which is expected but I was hoping I will be lucky. And that I have "some documents need to be verified which may take several month"..what does that mean?! And then they want more documents proving our relationship, bleh. :(

Any way he wanted some utility bills from me but I only pays sky and pet insurance, and both are paid through direct debit, so no bills. Has anyone been in the same situation? I am planning to send in pet insurance renewal notices and bank statement indicating payment. Are these OK? Really don't have anything else. Wish we planned our life in the UK according to how NZIS want it, but neither of us had the foresight.

I guess it is normal procedure that your medical report should be assessed by special people.

Verification takes time.

I already provided photos of special occations and timing to prove that we have a geniune and stable relation with my wife.

Hope I provide you useful information, be happy and wish you all the best.

Do you have any copies of statements from your utility companies? We pay by direct debit, but they send statements through occasionally informing us whether or not the current level of payment is suffucient. We also sent letters from the estate agent and solicitor dealing with our house sale.

Good luck, we're in the same situation as you, our ITA is being assessed, and it's driving me mad, it seems to be taking FOREVER!

We had to simply send in a bank statement from our joint account covering one entire year, so one from August '07 and one from August '08. This had both our names on it with the same address, and they seemed quite happy with that.
Not quite sure why your medical referrels are to take so long though, when I had to be referred and provide extra info it was 2 - 4 weeks.
Good luck with your plans though! I'm sure it will work out in the end :D

Do you have a joint rent book, previous holiday bookings under both of your names ,letters addressed to you both?any correspondance to you both?.Also any photos of you together or letters from family of friends saying that you are a couple could help.
I hope you get this sorted soon as the wait is so hard.

Britzy, and others, thanks for your support. I am not the most patient person in the world, so not very good at waiting. Mike keep reminding me we have plenty of time.. I know that but still worry like mad.

We had all that stuff, letters from friends, holiday trips and photos etc. I think they just wanted more solid evidence we were living together even though we gave them bank statements (separate accounts) covering three years. I don't have any statement from Sky or pet insurance, so hopefully the renewal notice and bank statements with money deducted will be enough.

Hi

We have just had the same - the NZIS wouldnt accept our marriage certificate / 2 x children as proof of our relationship but would accept a gas / electric bill & bank statements ! Surely this only proves we live at the same address & not a relationship !

Together they prove that you were and still are together and not seperated. I dont know many seperated couples who would try to emigrate together, but I think thats what they are looking for.
The only thing that we had were community charge books that was in joint names.

Hi! From what I have been reading everyone faces the same problem in providing the evidence of a solid relationship. In our case, we have many pictures of us together but I don't have any document such as shared bank accounts or mailings to our house.

If they tell us that this is not enough I honestly have no idea of what other document to present!

Good Luck to everyone!

Just a thought, if you live at the same address but don't have things like joint bank accounts and only one of you pays the bills, your Doctors registration and records may be enough to prove that you are both registered at he same address, also how about getting council tax records and electoral role.

Thanks Marybelle for the tip!

I discovered today that we also have joint car insurance since more than 12 months ago! hehehe

Ritorresv,

You can send in separate bank statements (if you have electronic banking and don't receive regular statements you can always request them. At my bank they are free as well) or individually addressed letters as long as they are mailed to the same address. We don't have joint bank accounts.

I think in my case I was just hoping they will use our joint credit card, membership to organisations etc (all mailed to the same address addressed to both of us) as prove of living at the same address as well as sharing financial and hobby interests. But they didn't. That is so strange to me, surely one document can serve two purposes.. any how maybe I am weird. I am just waiting for some more statements from the bank, then off to NZIS again.

Are you registered at your local council in the UK? When I had to provide proof of relationship I just went to my local council and had a list printed of where both my husband and I had lived for the past 10 years (in Holland, at the same addresses obviously), on official council paper with stamps.

Nienke,

We requested that information three times now, and still hasn't received anything. Just talked to somebody seemed competent and less confused maybe it will work this time.
