In the uk we have a lot of these http://www.viyplumbingtraining.co.uk/?gclid=CMnUi4Tbl5YCFQ7clAodwnMI7g

where basically you pay £5,000 and become 'qualified' in 10 weeks.

Googled my life away but cant find a comparable course in NZ, anyone seen anything like this over there?

Sorry, Brendan. You can become a plumber, but you have to complete an apprenticeship. Two of my neighbours (in their 30s) have done something similar in the last couple of years, so I know that it can be done.

I'd advise you search previous threads on Plumbing in NZ. The PGDB is a monopoly on standards & you have to register with them which means, unless you are an experienced plumber, you will have to go via the apprenticeship route.
