Hi I Took the jump and submitted my EOI and It's been Selected.
Just a couple of questions however; I have been working as .Net Systems Developer,Architect and Team leader over the last 5 years. And gained a honours degree and an MSC both in the IT field.
My Degree itself covers a wide range of IT applications such as programming,Netowrking etc. and my Masters covers E-Commerce Technologies so again more detailed systems Development work and Networking.
I have read in several places that sometimes the People who make decision on EoI's can be a little "picky" on whether there is enough of a tie to your qualification and your end Proffesion. Of course in my case there would seem to be a clear link. However I am a little concrend that because there is no specific reference to "Software" in the titles of the course that it may become an issue.
Do you see this as being an issue that could cause my EOI to be De-Selected?
Also regarding Passports etc. I submitted my EOI using a passport that will be running out mid next year (Didn't realise till earlier) I am of course now in the process of getting a new one sorted; Should this have any bearing on my application when i need to change the details of my active passport at a later date? Or will i be able to do that when i recieve the Application pack?
Thanks in advanced and i know i might be concerned about nothing but i just wanted to check so i can ensure i have a.) done things correctly and b.) be aware of any possible issues i may have later :)

Hi and congrats on being selected. :) It is hard to say and from what I read, the IT field is what gets people in trouble and indeed NZIS can get "picky." It depends on the case officer as well. But if you run into this problem and truly feel you have a case, I believe you can contest the decision. I am not sure how that is done but I have seen a few people fight the decision and everything turns out fine. But is too early to say, but am I sure you are fine. :nice1 And as far getting de-selected, that happens when an applicant falls below a 100 points and cannot go back in the pool. Not sure how many points you had so even if your bonus points were deducted, you would still have enough points for an ITA. Welcome to the waiting game. LOL
As far as the passports, I am not sure about that one. I am sure someone will come along and know the answer.

Thanks a lot.
Regarding my points total atm i have 135 points with my 2 quals and experience in immediate skills shortage and long term growth areas counted.
If i waited another year i would have 145 as i would also have over the 6 year experience mark. So i'm not certain if I'd drop below 100 or not tbh :)

Reading your first post over again, I am sure you will be okay. :) It is natural to second guess or wonder if everything will check out. Emigrating is a big deal and very costly I might add, so all kinds of emotions can be stirred up.:o Because we felt the same way after we hit that submit button. :yes
Hang on and enjoy the ride. :nice1

As no one responded regarding my passport question i just wanted to check once again if anyone has had any issues having submitted an EoI on a current passport that will soon need renewing? Just wonder as I'm sure when i renew that i will have a new passport number. I dont want this to cause any problems :)

I don't have an answer for you, sorry. Some thoughts occur to me which may be reassuring. Lots of people have talked about having to alter aspects of their application after it was in, e.g. having a job offer, and they were able to do that. Also, many people have said that NZIS workers have been really human and helpful on the phone. Could you ring in and put your question? It may be that there's some quite simple formula to use when completing the EOI in this situation, and knowing so would put your mind at rest. Good luck.:nice1

You can change any of the details you want when you receive your ITA.
So when you get your ITA, just update the passport number to your new one.

I have exactly the same scenario as you. My degree a named degree in IT & Computing and I am a .Net developer. The EOI should not be deselected, you just have to prove that your education matches up to your job if they do not think it matches. If your degree is on their list from a known university that is most of the work done. I included a list of the courses (it was on my degree letter anyway) which showed that part of the course at least was programming.
I also had to renew my passport, as has already been said, you just cross out the details on the ITA when it arrives and put the new details on the ammendments page at the back. It would be quicker for you to send it off now (they add on unused months) while waiting for your ITA to arrive as it may take 2-3 months for that to arrive and a further 7 months before you get through to the end process!

yea you should be fine... your degree is in IT and you work in IT...
For the passport you should just be able to update it once you get the new one...

No problem with passport, my expired as well and I asked IMM NZ and they told me to simply amend and add on ITA application form. As long as anything does not change or disturb the points, they are ok.
