Hi,
Like so many before, I'm popping in to introduce myself. I live in Florida and my husband and I have gotten it into our heads to try and move to New Zealand. Lots of reasons, some illogical (I want to live there because I saw New Zealand on Rudy Maxa's Pacific Rim Travels!) and some very logical. The logical ones sway us more, of course! Most of those have to do with how conditions are here in the States now (hmm, especially Florida!).
I'm still doing a lot of research (which I don't have much time to do--I'm a SAHM...exhausted one at that) so I'm hoping to one day join the Kiwi Advice Crew! :D
G'night!

Welcome to the forum! :nice1 We moved from the Midwest about a year ago. How old is/are your child/ren? My daughter is positively thriving here, the move was worth it for her alone. :) Best of luck! :cheers

Thank you all for the welcome!
M-squared, I've got four, yes! four kidlings--15; 10; 4; and 11 months. They are all about to hit birthdays, (in reverse order, starting with the baby for the next four months). My eldest is already talking about how he wants to be a 'summer baby'. :laugh
The kids are a big incentive for us to move. THERE ARE AT LEAST TWO MURDERS EVERY WEEK WHERE WE LIVE!!! There was even one in the complex where we live at last summer. Our a/c went out and the maintenance man couldn't fix it. He brought in a portable window unit, installed it, and left. A few days later, we see that a woman has been murdered in our complex and they showed a picture of a man. My son, says, "Hey, that looks like the guy that works here!" I didn't think so but lo and behold, it was him! It turns out that he tied up this poor elderly woman, robbed her, and left her tied. She had a heart attack while she was tied up! It was terrible that she lost her life like that. We were also thoroughly creeped out because he probably went and robbed her just a few hours after installing the portable A/C!!!!
We even had people in our part of town deliberately targeting people with kids and robbing them at gun point!
AND I LIVE IN A 'NICE' AREA!
Pretty bad, huh? Both my husband and I grew up in rough neighborhoods as kids and we never wanted that for our children. That's why we live in the area that we do but the crime and decay has spread here, too and is simply everywhere--it's just sad and pathetic.
I want to go really super bad!
Okay, time to stop writing my novel and get the kids some lunch!

Good god that is awful about those murders! Does make you wonder about letting tradesmen into your house to do work, though, doesn't it? What is the world coming to? :(

Welcome! We are in Nashville and are planning to move one day soon. The sooner, the better! My daughter was the one I was worried about not wanting to move but now she wants to go worse than me and OH.
