Hello all,

Am I right in thinking I can include my 9 month old baby in my visitor's visa application and do not have to complete/pay for a separate visitor's visa for him?

I've read their policy manual but need to check with the real oracle's of immigration....you guys :D

If you are British (guessing from your location) then you don't need to apply or pay for a visitor visa - one is issued on arrival in NZ for 6 months.

Unfortunately I do as we will be staying for longer than 12 months (OH has job with accredited company so going WTR route).

Then the visa you're applying for isn't a visitors' visa. You'd be an applicant on your OH's WTR visa surely? You can't get a visitor visa for more than 9 months, or in some circumstances 12 months.

You automatically qualify for a visa on the back of your hubby's WTR, IanW99 or someone else can probably tell you which kind of visa. Sorry but I have absolutely no clue what kind of visa your wee one would get (mine was already school age when we came so got a student permit).

Well seeing as I was asked :)

As M-Squared says you apply for your visa off the back of your OHs WTR.

IIRC You have the choice of a general work visa or a visitor visa, the length of which matches the time left to run on the WTR so would normally be 30 months.

So yes, under these circumstances you can get a visitor visa for more than the normal 6/9 months.

I don't really understand why you wouldn't apply for a general work visa though as this will allow you to take up some work should you ever want / need to. Just because you have a work visa doesn't mean that they will force you to work, it just gives you the option.

I believe that if the children are under school age then they would also be entitled to a visitor visa (school age would get student visas).
