Hello,

I submit my ITA on 27/Sept/2007, my police clearance and medical reports were recently issued before the submission.

I wonder if NZIS require me to do them once again as already 1 year passed.

Your comments are highly appreciated.

I think the Police Reports are good for 6 months and the Medicals are good for 3 months.

Good luck. :nice1

Notice the year 2007, not 2008!

I can't see how they can ask you to do it again as they were in date when you sent them in to be viewed. I'm sure someone else has been through this, have you checked the INZ web site?

This is from NZIS web site:

Police certificates must be less than six months old when the application is lodged.

We may ask for further police certificates if the initial police certificate becomes a year old from its date of issue before we make a decision on your application; or within the 12-month period if there is good reason to do so.

Don't know about medicals.

Medicals are valid for 2 years after submission, so if you submitted them when they were less than 3 months old, and they are still less than 2 years old then they are still valid.

But, just be aware that medicals and police certificates can be re-requested by NZIS at any time should they see the need.

Hi, thanks for your info,

Is it smart to take the initiative and ask the NZIS if they require us to re-do the police clearance and the medical check-up, although it is not cheap but I guess it is time investment specially that my case takes longer time than we expected, or I should keep my mouth shut ?

Sincerely,

Ali Ismail

As I said previously, they are highly unlikely to ask you to redo your medicals as they are still current, so I wouldn't bother about them.

For the police certificate question, I think that for me it would depend on how much effort, cost and time would be involved in getting replacements.

For example, if you just need to get one, it's simple to get, doesn't cost a fortune and you can get it in less than a week then I would just get a new one even if you don't bother to send it in.

If on the other hand it was really complicated e.g. multiple countries, and costs a fortune then I would keep quiet, and hope that a new one wasn't needed.

If you are "time short" and getting a replacement will a long time to get, then I would contact your CO and just ask them if you are likely to need a new police certificate and if so, then start the process now so that you don't hold anything up.

Is this the case even if I am living in NZ and haven't lived anywhere else after getting the police reports?

Yes, it is the case.

Does seem silly when you know that the details couldn't have changed, but they still need to confirm that the details are still current.
